Winter Sports at Falkert

The Heidi Chalets are perfect for mountain and winter lovers, families and those seeking relaxation. At 1,850m above sea level, you can enjoy the full range of winter sports: skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, winter and snowshoe hiking, ice skating, curling and, of course, ski touring. Tobogganing & Family Ski Area Heidialm

Our family ski area at Falkert stands out for its relaxed slopes suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to freeriders, and for its special focus on children. The ski area lies between 1,700 and 2,300 metres above sea level in the heart of the Nockberge mountains and is known for its reliable snow conditions. Here, “pleasure skiing” means perfectly groomed slopes and snow from December to April. Falkert also offers tobogganing fun for young and old on a prepared and floodlit run open until 10 p.m..

Heidi’s Schneealm Ski Park

Heidi’s Schneealm promises 100% snow fun! In the fenced area, no one gets lost – it’s completely safe, making learning to ski a joy even for the youngest. Heidi and Peter watch the children take their turns and descents, whether on skis, sledges or snow tubes. A covered magic carpet and a rope lift make the way up easy for children and beginners. Comfortable deckchairs invite parents to relax and watch. Heidi’s Schneealm is free for all children up to their 6th birthday when accompanied by a paying adult. A ski school and rental facilities are available directly on site.

At Falkert you can enjoy the snowy landscape on idyllic, well-prepared trails. The hiking paths and high-altitude cross-country track pass directly by the Heidi Chalets, offering magnificent views and an incomparable sense of tranquillity – across alpine meadows and through a sunny mountain forest with old trees. The mountain panorama provides an impressive view stretching as far as Slovenia and Italy. Another winter hiking trail leads towards the Zirmach lift, past the Zirbenhütte and through the terrain of the Heidi Park.

Our chalets are the perfect starting point for ski tours in the Carinthian Nockberge mountains, as you can set off directly from your doorstep. This mountain range, reaching up to 2,450m, offers a unique touring terrain with its gentle summits. Snow-covered peaks are waiting to be explored, and there are also fantastic freeride routes such as the Sunday Valley and the descent to St. Oswald. Equipment and mountain guides are available locally at the ski school. Beginners will be pleased to know that our local mountain, the Falkert, features a well-marked ski touring trail for learning and orientation.

The surrounding mountain world of the Nockberge Biosphere Park, recognised by UNESCO for its uniqueness, provides ideal terrain for extensive snowshoe hikes just waiting to be explored. Snowshoes can be rented directly from the local ski school, and guided tours are offered for all levels of ability and fitness. An insider’s tip is to climb our local peak, the Falkertspitz, early in the morning to experience the breathtaking sunrise.

Bad Kleinkirchheim Ski Area

The large ski area of Bad Kleinkirchheim, with over 100km of slopes, offers runs of all difficulty levels and is only a 15-minute drive away. Bad Kleinkirchheim also features an extensive cross-country network of around 50km, several tobogganing options, and the regionally renowned Thermal Römerbad with its diverse spa and sauna facilities covering more than 12,000m². Also worth noting: in winter, part of the spa park in Bad Kleinkirchheim is transformed into one of Carinthia’s many ice skating rinks, and curling is also available.

Turracher Höhe Ski Area

The Turracher Höhe, with its 42km of slopes, snow park and fun slope, is also just a short drive or taxi ride away. In addition to alpine skiing for all levels, there are cross-country trails and toboggan runs on site. Highly recommended is the Turracher Lake Trail, and a great family highlight is the Nocky Flitzer high-speed toboggan run, open almost all year round. Ice skating on the natural frozen surface of Lake Turrach is another must, as its high altitude ensures it remains perfectly frozen throughout the winter.
